THE PROJECT

South Derbyshire CVS’s Future Focus project aims to support individuals who are currently in recovery from drug and or alcohol use by developing and improving their confidence, skills and resilience by equipping them with new knowledge and skills.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Programme Entry Guidance

Adults aged 18 and over who are in recovery from drug and or alcohol use across South Derbyshire, with a support agency referral, are eligible for entry to this programme.

There are no formal educational entry requirements for the learning element of the programme.

Programme Duration

Future Focus is a six (6) week training and support programme.

Programme Commitment

Participants are required to regularly attend, actively participate, and meaningfully contribute to discussions.

Programme Structure

The programme has been designed around three (3) core mandatory foundation modules including:

  • Personal and Emotional Resilience
  • Developing Independent Skills
  • Making Choices

In addition to these core modules, participants will have the opportunity to complete additional learning around developing hobbies and interests, researching and accessing the services and social groups in their local community, identifying opportunities and participating in volunteering.  Such additional learning will be differentiated for each group taking into consideration the learner’s feedback, needs and interests.

Participants are also provided with an opportunity to attend an introductory session to Derbyshire Time Swap, a fantastic volunteering initiative which encourages members to ‘swap’ their time to voluntarily help somebody else.

Programme Locations

Future Focus is currently being delivered in South Derbyshire at locations in Swadlincote, Hilton and Melbourne.

Programme Accreditation

This programme is not formally accredited; however, the three (3) core programme modules do form the basis of the AIM Quality Endorsed Certificate which participants will receive on successful completion.

Progression Opportunities

Opportunities to prolong their learning engagement after the course will be provided through information, advice and guidance to further non-accredited and accredited courses. Furthermore, support will be offered to the participants during the programme to engage with community-based social and support services to continue their self-development journey.

HOW TO MAKE A REFERRAL

Please send all referrals via email to MWST@sdcvs.org.uk marking the message confidential.

Please ensure your email contains the following key information to allow us to progress the referral in a timely way:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Date of Birth
  • GP name and contact details
  • Details of any other agencies or services supporting the individual.

Once we have received the referral, this will be reviewed by a member of the team, and then we will contact the referred individual within 3 to 5 working days for an informal chat to ensure the individual is eligible for the programme and to agree their session location and dates and complete their onboarding.

Please note referrals received part-way through the programme will be onboarded for the next available programme session in that area.

Where it is identified that our programme is not suitable for the individual we will offer further information, advice and guidance.

We will keep the referrer updated on the status of the referral.
