Overview

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are essential to creating fair, respectful and effective workplaces, services and communities. This training session, “Introduction to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion,” provides a practical and accessible overview of key EDI concepts and why they matter in everyday interactions, decision-making and organisational culture.

The session will explore what is meant by equality, diversity and inclusion, and clarify the important difference between equality and equity. Participants will be introduced to the foundations of equality law, helping them understand legal protections, rights and responsibilities. We will also examine conscious and unconscious bias, including how attitudes, assumptions and behaviours such as “banter” can positively or negatively impact others and influence inclusion and belonging.

A key focus of the session is developing self-awareness and understanding. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own perspectives and learn practical ways to recognise, understand and challenge bias in themselves and others, supporting more inclusive behaviours and environments.

Benefits of the Learning

By the end of this session, you will:

  • Understand core EDI concepts and why they matter
